Wish you a happy Independence Day.

Summer is in full swing, and Bello Moi wants to wish you a happy Independence Day. We hope your skin stays as bright and glowing as the firework displays! If you’re enjoying some time outdoors this holiday weekend, make sure you keep your skin safe, protected and healthy – nothing ruins a barbecue like a painful sunburn. While sunburn lines can look a bit like the stripes on the American flag, it’s not the best way to display your patriotic spirit. Here are some reminders on sun protection for the long weekend so you can get out and enjoy yourself: Wear Sunscreen. It is incredibly important that you reapply your sunscreen every 3 to 4 hours, or more frequently if you are in and out of the water or sweating! Sunscreen is effective, but it can’t protect you from every ray. Be sure to pack SPF lip balm, long-sleeved cover-ups, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses with UV protection in your beach bag. A baseball cap won't protect your face from sun coming at an angle. Opt for a...

Stress and anxiety can take a toll on your complexion.

In times of stress your body also directs your blood away from your face or the surface of your skin to travel to the heart, head and muscles. This lack of blood flow can make the skin clammy and also result in a pale complexion. Stress and anxiety can take a toll on your complexion. When we are experiencing bad stress our blood pressure rises, digestive system slows down, heart rate goes up, immune system goes down, muscles become tense and we become insomniacs. No wonder stress can age us.  Our skin is one clear place that shows the effects of continuous stress. The body releases a stress hormone called cortisol to patch and repair any weak spots in the body in times of distress, but the cortisol levels peak during extended periods of stress.  The cortisol can actually break down the collagen in your skin, the protein which allows skin to retain its strength and elasticity and look youthful. Stress also induces wrinkles.  Skin cell...

Is Your Skin Acting Up?

I am not a big dairy person, but I have noticed anytime I eat cheese or have milk with my cereal the next day I wake up with a nasty break out.   I feel cows are treated with so many antibiotics and hormones and I don’t want to add more of those to my body.   Organic is always a good way to go, but with milk I don’t think your really getting your true organic. The product could be without pesticides, but that does not account for the hormone factor. Give your skin a break – try for 2 weeks to omit the dairy products.   That includes butter too.   Substitute olive oil, coconut oil, or soy margarine for the butter.   Great substitutes for milk are almond milk, soy milk and my new favorite is quinoa milk.   Quinoa milk has a nice, not overwhelming taste and the best is it is a super powerhouse of bone building calcium! www.bellomoi.com
